Controversial comedian Jackie Mason decided to throw in his two cents about President Obama, calling his Hanukkah celebration at the White House a fraud and a photo opportunity.

"I don't even think he knew that he was talking about something that's Jewish," Mason told a New York radio station.

"It could have been Muslim, it could have been altogether a religion he never even heard of. He doesn't know, he doesn't care. He's strictly in there to take a picture, and the picture could have been about anything," he continued.

The White House held the event 12 days before the Festival of Lights begins.

"We're jumping the gun just a little bit," Obama joked. "The way I see it, we're just extending the holiday spirit. We're stretching it out."

Mason, who is Jewish, is no stranger to remarking on black political figures.ย In 1991 he called then-New York City mayor David Dinkins a "fancy schvartze with a mustache." The word schvartze is Yiddisih for "black." He later apologized. Two years ago he also used the same word when talking about President Obama.

Mason invoked the name of Chris Rock when asked to apologize for his comments. "I'm not going to defend myself. Chris Rock has told a lot more jokes about whites than I have against blacks," he told TMZ. "What about the demeaning words blacks say about Jews? If it's a racist society, the white people are the ones being persecuted because they have to defend themselves."
