Chris Brown Says Australia Should Let Him in so He Can Raise Awareness About Domestic Assault

Australian officials want Chris Brown to give them a good reason why they should grant him a visa to enter their country to perform a concert, ABC News reports. They reportedly still have an issue with that 2009 assault of Rihanna.

"People to whom these notices are issued have 28 days to present material as to why they should be given a visa to enter Australia," Peter Dutton, an Australian immigration spokesman, explained about the notice that Brown was given. "Decisions on whether a visa will or will not be issued are made after that time frame and consideration of the material presented to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection."

Brown took to Twitter on Tuesday to make his case. He's flipping his sordid history on its head by suggesting that he would be a great person to raise awareness about domestic violence. 

In a series of tweets, he argued that young people wouldn't necessarily pay attention to the issue if the messages came from their elders or a public service announcement, but any information coming from him might resonate better because of his star power.

He does have a point. He should get started on putting together a campaign that would have an impact on Australia's youth. We'll wait and see if Australian officials are open to the idea.
