Lenard McKelvey is back to voicing his strong political opinions. The controversial media personality, better known as Charlamagne tha God, talked down to ABC News on Sunday (August 11) to share his thoughts on Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.

During his sit-down interview with “This Week” co-anchor Jonathan Karl, the radio and media personality said President Joe Biden leaving the 2024 race and being replaced by Harris “energized” Americans’ engagement in the Democratic party.
He went on to praise Harris and her charismatic nature. “Oh, there’s definitely a lot of main character energy on the Democratic ticket,” Charlamagne stated. “We know who Kamala Harris is. Like she has super main character energy.”
The co-host of iHeart Radio’s “The Breakfast Club” added that “if I’m the Democrats, I’m not spiking the football yet.” Charlamagne insisted that there is still much more work to do before celebrating. “The job is not done. You know, you still have to bring this thing home in November,” he explained to Karl.
The star commented that in order to tap into her “main character energy,” Harris needs to be more available to the media. “She does need to do more interviews.” Karl replied: “It’s striking that we really haven’t seen her answer questions yet.”
“I mean, it’s the bottom of the ninth inning, right?” Charlamagne retorted. “Like, I feel like she should be any and everywhere, you know, having these conversations.” The “Get Honest or Die Lying” author juxtaposed Trump’s approach, claiming that the former president is “everywhere.”
“[Trump’s] always calling into conservative talk radio, which is one of my biggest issues with the Democratic Party,” Charlamagne stated. “They don’t use the media that supports them the way the right uses the media that supports them.”
Charlamagne aptly pointed out that Tim Walz, who is Harris’ running mate, was also a strategic DEI hire. “We knew [Harris] needed a DEI hire,” he remarked. “She needed a white male to make America comfortable. It is what it is. No need for us to, you know, act crazy about it. We know what it is.”
