Officer Collin Rose, 29, was shot and killed in November, and DeAngelo Davis, 31, was arrested the same night and charged with the murder, the New York Daily News reports.

Davis had been in jail since the shooting until charges were dropped Wednesday. There was no report as to why charges were dropped.

Rose had stopped a bicyclist when he was shot in the head. He died at a local hospital.

Authorities believed that Davis was the bicyclist who was stopped the night Rose was killed. Rose was also charged with gun possession, but there has been no word on whether the gun reportedly found in Davis' possession was connected to the officer's killing.
