As expected, social media erupted and everyone from fans to media pundits had an opinion. However, many were waiting to see who else would corroborate the sensational claims.
50 Cent was one of the first to comment on the story. Everyone knows the G-Unit General has no problem saying what he wants, when he wants. He commented on the story on Instagram, writing, โโDamn brother love, brother love, brother love, you out here looking CRAZY AS A MF. LMAO,โ.The post racked up nearly half a million likes.
An old interview featuring Atlanta rapper Yung Joc seemed to corroborate Diddyโs hold over Cassie. In the video, Yung talks about how Cassie allegedly shaved her head because of the rapperโs influence, while he was present there and witnessed it all. โI was watching Puff โฆ Puff jumped up. Me and Cassie sitting next to each other, my wife right here, Cassie right here. The nโa jumped off the bar, came over there, and said, โYo, yo Cassie. Tomorrow, I want you to shave the side of your head,โ
He added that he asked Cassie if she was going to do it, saying that she responded, in part, โโ Well, I mean, whatever Sean wants, Iโm gonna do.โโ
Aubrey OโDay who was a member of Danity Kane, a group that was signed to Bad Boy, spoke out, saying, โIโm in complete support of her,โ referring to Cassie. She also responded when the very next day after the suit was filed, Cassie and Diddy settled the case, remarking, โMoney is Greater Than Accountability.โ
Many people were shocked when the case was settled the very next day. With some using it to point to an admission of guilt, something that Diddyโs lawyer Benjamin Brafman, vehemently denied, writing in a statement that the decision to settle is in โno way an admission of wrongdoing.โ He added, โMr. Combsโ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims. He is happy they got to a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.โ
While the case is settled, many believe that the court of public opinion will continue to litigate.
Analyzing everything said by many celebrities, including Kimora Lee Simmons who recently shared her own stories of abuse at the hands of her ex-husband Russell Simmons.
Kimora, who was close friends with Diddyโs ex, Kim Porter, wrote in her Instastory, โAs you so, so shall you reap.โ
It is believed that, if prompted, Kimoraโs opinion could be the loudest in this entire scandal.
The case of Ventura vs. Combs may be over in the State of New York, but social mediaโs armchair attorneys are just getting started.
