While Nelson Mandela is recovering after a lengthy hospital stay in South Africa, his daughter Makaziwe Mandela and granddaughter Tukwini Mandela will be toasting him this weekend thousands of miles away at the two-day Toast of Brooklyn Wine and Food Festival in New York City.

But they won't have to raise just any old glass of Bordeaux for the 95-year-old Mandela, according to the Daily News. They'll be able to sip a namesake wine.
The “Toast” is Bed-Stuy’s annual wine and food festival, and this year it will begin on a sober note as its founders pay tribute to Nelson Mandela.
Mandela’s daughter, Dr. Makaziwe Mandela, and his granddaughter, Tukwini Mandela, will be in town to accept an award on behalf of the ailing 95-year-old leader, who spearheaded the struggle to abolish South Africa’s repressive apartheid policies and later served as the country’s first black president.
The Mandelas will also promote House of Mandela Wines, a company they launched earlier this year, helping to ensure that the festival uncorks in high spirits.
According to the House of Mandela website, offerings range from chardonnay and sparkling wine to cabernet sauvignon and a silky Shiraz. The Brooklyn tribute will take place the first night of the festival, Friday, Sept. 13.
