Black Twitter Reacts to Singer Khalid Coming Out as Gay After Being Outed

Twitter has some thoughts after the "Location" singer was outed online.

Khalid has come out of the closet. The โ€œLocationโ€ singer recently took to social media with a post addressing his sexuality. Except this isnโ€™t your garden-variety coming out โ€” Khalid (born Khalid Donnel Robinson) was apparently outed via a messy post from a former lover.

Khalid jumped in front of the outing immediately, posting on X (formerly known as Twitter) a post including a rainbow flag, in which he wrote, โ€œthere yall go. next topic please lol.โ€

Khalid offered more clarity: โ€œI got outted and the world still continues to turn,โ€ he wrote. โ€œLetโ€™s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ainโ€™t nobodies business! But I am okay with me. love yallโ€

Fans of course immediately replied to Khalidโ€™s post, many with congratulations for the singer and others with comments about their perceived thoughts on his sexuality thus far. One user wrote, โ€œ[T]he closet was glass baby. but we accept you. its not about who you love its about your artistry!โ€

Khalid quoted the post, responding, โ€œI wasnโ€™t hiding anything! Itโ€™s just not any of your business.โ€

Of course, the internet naturally did its thing and tried to find out who put the singerโ€™s business out there. In no time, fans began to suspect that it was Hugo Almonte, a bisexual rapper and singer. Almonte had recently posted a photo of him and Khalid. He wrote under the pic, โ€œBโ€“ch ass lied and said that I broke into his house cause I didnโ€™t want him.โ€

As New York Post reports, the post was one of many now-deleted posts that contained โ€œderogatory remarksโ€ about Khalid, who Almonte referred to as โ€œone of your favorite gay rappers.โ€ Thankfully, the internet did not have time for this mess, with many taking to Khalidโ€™s defense and calling out how disrespectful it is to out someone.

โ€œYour amazing (sic),โ€ one user wrote. โ€œTo the person who outted you they are miserable with themselves, you keep doing you !!โ€

One user wrote, โ€œYou already knowing that Khalid was gay doesnโ€™t justify him not coming out on his own terms. Enough with the โ€œcloset was glassโ€ and โ€œwe already knewโ€ comments!โ€

Another posted about all of the love Khalid has received, writing, โ€œI love how everyone came together to defend Khalid and whack that man. Beautiful to see.โ€
