“My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden wrote.

“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump.”

Black folks on the internet are coming in hot with very divided opinions on the decision. Some are excited about the opportunity to vote for a Black woman as president, while others fear that she won’t get the support she deserves.

Political commentator Bakari Sellers is upset about the conclusion of Biden’s campaign in recent weeks, but he’s on board with the president’s endorsement of Harris.

Producer and podcast host Van Lathan said that he’s supporting Harris simply because he’s upset about the pessimism he sees about her possibility of appearing on the ballot.

Journalist Don Lemon discussed other Democratic talent that the party could nominate as Harris’ running mate, mentioning Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro as potential candidates.

“I don’t think people should be discouraged. This could be the best thing to happen to the Democratic Party, and to America,” Lemon said in a video. “So, let’s see. The fight is on.”
