On August 28, 2014, former President Barack Obama got his Republican haters all up in their feelings during a press briefing on the United Statesโ military response to ISIS. But the controversy was less about what he said, โWe donโt have a strategy yet,โ and more about what he wore. President Obamaโs tan suit got plenty of criticism for being too casual for such an important press conference.

IWillVote.com,โ he captioned his August 28 post which featured a side-by-side shot of him in his tan suit next to a picture of Vice President Harris in a Chloรฉ pantsuit in a similar hue on the first night of the Democratic National Convention last week in Chicago.
Obamaโs post has received over 670,000 likes in less than 24 hours, and judging by the comments, most people agree that a tan suit is, in fact, very presidential.
โTan suits are the Black air force ones of politics now. When we wear them, we are standing on business. AND VOTING,โ wrote actor/author Luvvie Ajayi Jones.
Others reminisced on the political good old days when it was the Presidentโs fashion choices rather than felony convictions that had the country divided.
โRemember when a tan suit was the biggest scandal a sitting president had? I miss those days,โ wrote one commenter.
Still others applauded the former President for taking a break from his wife, Former First Lady Michelle Obamaโs suggestion at the 2016 Democratic National Convention to go high when others go low, with a less than subtle jab at the other side.
