The portion of the game that showed enslaved Africans being dropped and packed into slave ships has been completely removed from the game, the Associated Press reports.ย

"Apologies to people who were offended by us using game mechanics to underline the point of how inhumane slavery was," a press statement posted on the game's online page read. "The goal was to enlighten and educate peopleโ€”not to get sidetracked discussing a small 15-second part of the game."

Fifteen seconds of insensitive content was all it took for the creators to feel the wrath of black Twitter as well as a boatload of other people who found the content "reprehensible," since it seemed to mock the violence that enslaved Africans endured during the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
