Martin Lawrence, Shannon Sharpe, LL Cool J, Quinta Brunson and the late Carl Weathers are among the Black stars who took center stage in Super Bowl ads.

There are a lot of stories swirling around the Super Bowl LVIII matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. However, if you’re not a football fan, you’re probably more interested in the blockbuster movie trailers and star-studded commercials. No need to sit through the extra long game, we’ve gathered the buzziest videos right here for you.

A Quiet Place: Day One -June 28

If you’re a fan of the action/thriller franchise, this is your lucky day. The latest film is a prequel starring Lupita Nyong’o and Djimon Hounsou. It follows the events of the first day the creatures wreaked havoc and “the world went quiet.” It should be fascinating to see how people figured out their new normal in those early hours.

Deadpool and Wolverine – July 26

Wade Wilson is “Marvel Jesus” in the first trailer for “Deadpool 3.” Ryan Reynolds is back to break the fourth wall and have a lot of fun at Disney’s expense. We don’t get a clear shot of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, but he’s definitely coming. If you’re a Marvel fan, savor this one because it’s the only movie you’re getting this year.

Wicked – Nov. 27

We finally got our glimpse of Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda in the film adaptation of the extremely popular musical. Those few seconds of Erivo hitting the big finish on “Defying Gravity” will have to sustain all the superfans until Nov. 27.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes – May 10

This new story takes place several generations after the events of the first three films. Apes are now the dominant species, with humans just barely surviving. A young ape begins to question his leader’s dictatorship, questioning if there’s a way apes and humans can actually coexist.

Knuckles -April 26

Idris Elba’s Knuckles gets a “Sonic the Hedgehog” spinoff series where he brings his unique gladiator training style to Earth. Premiering on Paramount+ April 26, Returning alongside Elba are Adam Pally, Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic. They’re joined by Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi.

Verizon

Beyoncé tries to break Verizon with various crazy announcements that we totally wish were real. I need “Beyoncé A.I.” and “BarBey” to be real. We also need Bey to do a concert from space. And we all know out here in the real world she would’ve broken the internet with the first drop.

Martin Lawrence has no time for Shannon Sharpe and his “show muscles.” Sharpe left Skip Bayless behind and became a media superstar.

FanDuel

Does anyone really care if Rob Gronkowski hits the “Kick of Destiny?” This ad is about taking a moment on the biggest sports stage to honor the late Carl Weathers. None of the other stuff matters.

DraftKings

No one needed to see Kevin Hart as legendary NFL coach Jimmie Johnson, but DraftKings certainly thought it was necessary. If there’s one good thing about the end of football season it’s that we might see less of these ads.

NFL

A Ghanaian boy dreams of football stardom alongside NFL players Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson and Cam Jordan. In the end, he meets a coach who tells him that as long as he loves the game he can play, no matter where he’s from. Seriously, if this didn’t tug at your heart strings, you’re a robot.

T-Mobile

Action movie superstar Jason Momoa finally gets to explore his true calling, dance, in this ridiculously funny commercial with “Scrubs’” Zach Braff and Donald Faison. Shout out to Jennifer Beals for saying what we were all thinking.

T-Mobile Magenta

A star-studded take on auditions featured Bradley Cooper, Laura Dern, Jennifer Hudson and Common trying to get the company’s extra deals. It was a cute, but not especially memorable.

Dunkin’

What the hell did we just watch? We’ve been seeing these Ben Affleck music star ads since the Grammys, and they’ve culminated in this piece of over the top nonsense. The ridiculous awkwardness of Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Matt Damon and Tom Brady is going to make this commercial one of the most unforgettable ads of the day.

Paramount+

I’m gonna need a t-shirt of Sir Patrick Stewart telling Drew Barrymore to “shut your face.” It’s hilarious every time he plays into the image of him as an overly serious Shakespearean actor.

Popeye’s

Look, we’re all excited that Popeye’s has wings now, but Ken Jeong!? Really!? He does his usual over the top craziness, which is fine if that’s your thing. However, Popeye’s introducing wings during the Super Bowl sounds tailor made for a Black comedian.

Coors Light

I’ve had a crush on LL Cool J since “I’m Bad” came out. But if you drive the “Chill Train” through my living room, we’re going to have some serious problems.

Starry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xA7ENrLtUw

The drama of Ice Spice breaking up with her ex-lemon lime soda had no right being this funny.

BIC Lighter

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JB35g7cllPs

Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart advertising BIC’s EZ Reach lighter sounds like someone on the team used MadLibs to create this spot.

TurboTax

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f2Qk0mxYUE

TurboTax is kicking off tax season with its $1,000,000 Super Bowl File Sweepstakes. The company got “Abbott Elementary’s” Quinta Brunson to star and explain the ins and outs of its services. We’d also like to know if you can write off 1,000,000 nachos.

Skechers

If you’re an ‘80s kids, you’ll always have a little nostalgia love for Mr. T. He was our hero. Not one was tougher than him. It’s always great to see him pop up and poke fun at his larger than life personality.

Michelob Ultra

Soccer superstar Lionel Messi has no time for your silly little “football” game. He schools a bunch of beachgoers about real football while waiting for his drink. Is this what it really feels like for him when he’s playing in the MLS?

Booking,com

Multiple Tina Feys, including Jane Krakowski as luxury stay Tina, Jack McBrayer as cabin stay Tina and Glenn Close as farm stay Tina. Honestly, Booking has done better in the past. They went for star power here, but I’m not sure it helps sell the brand.

Dove

These ads are usually about big stars, flashy visuals and unforgettable punchlines. You don’t get a lot of commercials with deep, meaningful messages. When they’re done as brilliant as this Dove ad, they’ll resonate past the hoopla of the Big Game.

Google

Dammit Google! You did it to me again. The tech giant constantly delivers these emotional tear-jerkers to promote the real world use of their new software. This time around, it’s a visually impaired man using the AI assisted Guided Frame to take perfect photos of life’s best moments.

e.l.f. Cosmetics

The cast of “Suits” is really taking advantage ot this renewed interest in the legal drama. This time around they find themselves in front of Judge Judy as they argue over e.l.f. Cosmetics.

Oreo

Be honest, you wish Kris Jenner’s twist had landed on the right.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JUNE 27: Justin Combs, Charlie Liucci, Quincy Taylor Brown and King Combs leave the Sean Combs' sex trafficking and racketeering trial at Manhattan Federal Court on June 27, 2025 in New York City. Defense attorneys will begin their closing arguments today, “followed by a prosecution rebuttal argument” after the prosecution and defense resting their cases earlier this week. “Then, Judge Arun Subramanian will instruct jurors on the law before deliberations begin”. Some of the charges have been dropped and others have been downgraded, in an effort to streamline the case at the behest of Judge Arun Subramanian. Combs, 55, faces up to life in prison if convicted on charges, which include allegations of threats, arson, violence, and drug-fueled sex parties referred to as "freak offs."
