One of the best things to come out of the Kendrick Lamar – Drake beef was Lamarโ€™s hit single โ€œNot Like Us.โ€ The diss track earned not only solidified Lamarโ€™s place among hip-hopโ€™s greats, it earned him five Grammy nominations, including Record and Song of the Year.

Beyoncรฉโ€™s โ€œFreedom,โ€ a track featured on her 2016 hit album โ€œLemonade,โ€ was a theme for many of the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 after the murder of George Floyd. But song got new life in 2024 when it became the official song of Vice President Kamala Harrisโ€™ Presidential campaign.

Alicia Keys – โ€œYou Donโ€™t Know My Nameโ€

Andra Day – โ€œRise Upโ€

Andra Dayโ€™s 2015 inspirational hit โ€œRise Upโ€ was another anthem of the Black Lives Matter Movement. Day says she was inspired to write the song when a friend was diagnosed with cancer.

โ€œโ€™Rise Upโ€™ started as a sort of prayerโ€”I thought about what I needed to hear to be able to get back on my feet. Most of the song came streaming out in the first freestyle recording,โ€ she told Time Magazine in an interview. โ€œHonestly, there are lines in there Iโ€™d normally find clichรฉ. But sometimes a good clichรฉ is exactly what you need in a moment of hopelessness.โ€

Ledisi – โ€œGood Yearโ€

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMtCQIFCJ10

Singer Ledisi stole our hearts with her 2007 single โ€œAlright.โ€ Now, the R&B songstress is back with a new album, โ€œGood Life,โ€ and the track โ€œGood Yearโ€ is one of our favorites.

50 Cent – โ€œIn Da Clubโ€

โ€œGo Shorty, itโ€™s ya birthday.โ€ Whenever 50 Centโ€™s โ€œIn Da Clubโ€ comes on, you canโ€™t help but sing along.

The track, which is featured on his 2003 album โ€œGet Rich or Die Tryinโ€™,โ€ was 50’s first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100.

Lenny Kravitz – โ€œFly Awayโ€

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvuL5jyCHOw

Rocker Lenny Kravitz won a Grammy award for Best Male Rock Performance for his 1998 hit song โ€œFly Away.โ€

Kravitz wrote and produced the song after heโ€™d already turned in his album, โ€œ5″ to the record label. But friends who heard it convinced him to add it to the track list. Weโ€™re glad he did.

Snoop Dogg ft. Pharrell Williams โ€œDrop it Like itโ€™s Hotโ€

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtUVQei3nX4

Rapper Snoop Dogg has had plenty of hits over his career, but 2004’s โ€œDrop it Like itโ€™s Hotโ€ was his first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100. The Neptunes-produced track featured a catchy hook and verses by Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams. Twenty years after it was released, it still rocks in the club.

LL Cool J – โ€œRock the Bellsโ€

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtIeh_uyxvY

No samples, no auto tune, no catchy hook, LL Cool Jโ€™s 1985 hit โ€œRock the Bellsโ€ is just four minutes of non-stop dope lyrics.

Beyoncรฉ ft. Shaboozey – โ€œSweet Honey Buckinโ€™โ€

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DIBZX_v0-U

Beyoncรฉ and Shaboozey made magic on โ€œSweet Honey Buckinโ€™,โ€ a track from Beyโ€™s โ€œCowboy Carterโ€ album. The song is a little bit country, a little bit R&B and a lot of fun.

Childish Gambino – โ€œRedboneโ€

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kp7eSUU9oy8

Donald Gloverโ€™s musical alter ego Childish Gambino showed off his musical range in the best way with 2016’s โ€œRedbone.โ€ The song, which is a perfect modern take on Prince and Funkadelic vibes, earned him three Grammy nominations, including Record of the Year.

Shaboozey -โ€A Bar Song (Tipsy)โ€œ

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7bQwwqW-Hc

Virginia native Shaboozeyโ€™s name was on everyoneโ€™s lips this year. The singer-songwriter has proved his fans extend beyond the country music world, spending 17 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 with his hit โ€œA Bar Song (Tipsy).โ€œ

Cassie – โ€œMe & Uโ€

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVJ5gsLeCSM

Singer Cassie has been in the news lately in light of Sean โ€œDiddyโ€ Combsโ€™ legal woes. But in 2006, the then 19-year-old promising young singer had the song of the summer with her debut single, โ€œMe & U.โ€
