According to the report, the vantage points of the two videos are similar. Smith was shot to death Aug. 13 by an officer after fleeing a traffic stop. Authorities say that footage from the officer's body camera clearly shows Smith holding a hand gun and turning toward the officer at the time he was shot, the network reports.

Schimel said authorities were looking at the officer's video as well as a second video, but added that neither will be released until after the county prosecutor makes a decision as to whether to charge the officer involved in the case. That officer has not yet been formally identified, although there have been reports circulating a name and image of a 24-year-old patrolman and identifying him as the shooter.

Family members have said that Smith and the officer knew each other prior to the fatal encounter.
