Kevin Jackson, 17, was shot Sept. 1 after an argument with a 15-year-old foe on a Southeast street in Washington, D.C., according to the Washington Post.

That night, the 15-year-old left the argument but returned with a gun, shooting at Kevin a few times, the Post reports. Kevin was hit once in the back of the head. The 15-year-old reportedly admitted to firing the gun "two or four times."
On Wednesday the teen pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and a firearms charge in D.C. Superior Court.
According to the Post, the young man is in the custody of the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services and could face a maximum of six years of detainment or supervision with the agency until he turns 21.
"It’s a slap on the wrist,” Kevin’s older sister, Martina Brooks, said. "He’s facing the same amount of time for killing someone as if he was arrested for shoplifting."
Kevin's family wanted the teen to be charged as an adult, but prosecutors chose to keep the case in juvenile court.
